He is not a very powerful edge defender even though he is listed at 6'4 260. He does not have a strong initial punch at the point of contact.
He has some explosiveness coming up the field and he relies heavily on his athletic traits to get him past OL.
He looks very explosive on film and given his size it should help him generate pressure. He has a quick first step and is normally past the OL before they can react.
If he gets caught by a heavy-handed OL it's game over. He does not have the strength or requisite arm length to get away from strong OL.
There are times he tackles too high and lacks leverage other times he gets the ball carriers down low.
On film, he does play with high effort and is relentless to the ball carrier. At times though I wish he was a little more controlled and took better angles.
He is a high effort player who pursuits the ball carrier with ferocity. I saw him get knocked down multiple times and chase the ball carrier
If I had to put a time on his 40 I would say its in the high 4.6's to low 4.7's
I could not find any major injuries in my research.
He has very good size for an edge rusher at 6'5 260 but he lacks the ideal arm length desired at 32 inches.
I can not judge as I have not met with him personally.
He needs to improve his hand techniques as he can struggle to shed blocks when he is engaged. He is at his best when he explodes off the line of scrimmage and either dips and rips past the OL or performs a spin move.
He has a ton of upside and with some refinement, in his technique, he has got a chance to be a very effective edge rusher in this league.
His productivity is hot and cold and he performs better when he gets off to an outside start. If he rushes with a bull rush he often ends up getting washed in with the OL.
Patrick Jones II is a very athletic edge rusher with impressive explosiveness. He also has good size at around 6'5 260 lbs. He has a varied amount of moves include a rip and dip a spin move and an inside rip move. It can be effective when he wins with his explosiveness.
He does not have the desired arm length for edge rushers coming in at about 32 inches. He also lacks natural strength which is evident when he tries to bull rush OL often leading him to get ashed out. he needs to also improve his hand technique as he often gets stuck.
I think he has got a chance to be a very good player in the NFL with the right coaching. He needs to learn how to use his hands better and be more physical at the point of attack. But he has the type of explosiveness that you can't teach and under the right coaches, he can be very problematic for OL.
