Mond always puts a lot of power behind his throws and can sling it down the field, on the run, and off his back foot relatively easily.
Short Accuracy (1-10 yds)
He is able to get the ball out and on target on some shorter throws. His troubles in this distance comes when he puts too much power on throws, throws into coverage, or waits too long to throw on screens.
Imtermediate Accuracy (10-20 yds)
Does pretty well hitting guys across the field and extending plays. However, especially against better teams he misses open receivers far too often.
Long Accuracy (20+ yds)
Mond frequently overthrows open receivers down the field and tends to heave balls into coverage when pressured.
Mond does a really good job of stepping up in and stepping out of the pocket depending on pressure and pass protection, giving him more time to throw and make plays. Needs work on decision making when the pressure gets to him.
Can run the ball well from option plays and scrambles. Has shown the ability to rip off long runs down the field and create big gains. Can also use his legs to extend plays and make throws.
Mond was able to lead the Aggies to 8 wins last season in a tough SEC. However, he was very inconsistent, throwing under 100 yards as many times as he threw over 300. Against Clemson this year for example, he tried to do way too much a create too much himself including a costly turnover in the red zone, in a game their defense held Clemson to 24 points. Texas A&M has the chance to compete with elite teams, Mond needs to give them more of a chance.
Mond's biggest issue is his decision making. He can get away with it due to his raw talent against weaker opponents, but against elite teams he seriously struggles. Mond throws into dangerous areas, throws off his back foot, and throws across his body far too often. Against elite competition this will lead to a lot of turnovers and incompletions.
At 6'3" 215 lbs, Mond has good height for a QB, but looks a bit slim sometimes running the ball, especially if he is not sliding to avoid big hits.
To go with size and mobility, Mond can make something out of nothing from time to time. However, he tries too hard to do this sometimes and it leads to big mistakes.
Mond has an impressive pocket presence to go with high level mobility and strong arm talent. Mond always looks to make big plays and has the ability to make something out of nothing.
The Texas A&M QB has erratic decision making that when coupled with accuracy issues, leads to a lot of incompletions and turnover worthy throws. Mond has a special ability to create big plays, but seems to be looking for this against elite teams way too often, putting the Aggie offense in trouble.
Mond made a big step forward from his freshman to sophomore year. However, his accuracy issues and decision making could use a lot of work if Texas A&M wants to take the next step in 2020 with Mond at the helm. He has the ability to make big plays out of nothing but needs to know when he should and shouldn't attempt the spectacular. With all that said, he was still able to lead the Aggies to 8 wins, and with more improvement they could turn into a dark horse contender in the SEC.
