Player Scouting Report

Players Scouting Reviewer : mgomes429 . Position :Quarterback [QB]

Arm Strength/Power
He has got a big arm and can comfortably throw 60 yards down the field with relative ease. He can fit it into tight windows as well and throw good back-shoulder throws.
Short Accuracy (1-10 yds)
He can throw it to all levels relatively accurate and was very accurate during 2019 as showcased by hi 71.9% completion rate.
Imtermediate Accuracy (10-20 yds)
He can put really good placement on the out routes and showcases good velocity with second-level throws. This includes back shoulder and corner routes.
Long Accuracy (20+ yds)
He puts a lot of air on his deep balls and it arrives with good placement where the receiver can just catch it over the shoulder.
Pocket Presence
Not the greatest pocket presence as he can play a bit stiff in the pocket. he will occasional roll out but he prefers to stay in the pocket and deliver the football from there. He needs to learn to sense pressure in the pocket better as well.
He can roll out and can get you a first down if the defense is left completely open but its not a real strength of his.
He sees the field relatively well and he makes the correct throws in terms of the placement. He throws it away from the defender so that really impressed me when I watched his film. he got a quick release as well but needs to improve from progressing from read to read.
He has got really good mechanics and really uses his lower body well. He drives off his back foot to deliver the football with velocity and power, which is why good mechanics matter.
He had an arm injury that he suffered during the Holiday Bowl against Iowa. but due to the timing in which the injury occurred, it should grant him plenty of time to recover.
I can not judge this as I have not met with him personally.
Game Management
He is a high completion thrower and he makes a lot of great throws. he also gets the ball out quick and is able to throw high completion passes efficiently, which allows his receivers to run after the catch.
He threw 30TD's to only 9 INT's.
He needs to gain weight as he only weighs about 200lbs and he measures in at 6'2
He is not a runner and will not threaten defenses with his legs but he can get a first down if the defense is caught off guard.
Play-Making Ability
He makes a lot of tremendous throws and has great placement but in terms of making plays when everything breaks down is another story. I'm not sure he possesses enough mobility to escape pressure against NFL defenders. He is more of a pocket passer who thrives in the pocket . He does possess pocket mobility though in terms of sliding in and out.
He had a very productive season throwing for 30TD's to 9 INT's at 71.9% completion rate which is outstanding.
He needs to get bigger in order to survive in the NFL as he is much to light at his current weight. 6'2 200lbs
I can not judge this as I have not met with him personally.
He is very consistent in terms of completing his passes but will struggle when he gets off schedule but then again most QB' s do. he can throw to all levels off the field with good velocity and placement he also has a very high arcing deep ball which helps the receiver catch it easier.
He has a live arm and is only a freshman. He is also very accurate and can throw to all levels of the field. He also has very good mechanics and can put very good placement on his throws. He has a quick release which allows him to get the ball out before getting sacked. he also has very good footwork and pocket mobility.
He does not possess the best athleticism and is not very comfortable outside the pocket. He is a very mechanical passer and can be rattled when he is thrown off that schedule. He needs to progress through his reads faster and learn to throw on the run with more consistency. He often is not aware of pressure around him and that will cause issues with strip-sacks at the next level.
Overall Analysis
He is still a very young prospect with room to grow but he has got a good arm with really good accuracy and pocket mobility. He needs to be more consistent in terms of escaping the pocket and creating a new pocket for himself when his offensive line breaks down. I think he will end up being a first-round pick in 2 maybe three years depending on if he improves his mobility. Early projection 2020 ( Rounds 1-2) Current projection 2022 ( Round 3)
