Player Scouting Report

Players Scouting Reviewer : myles.whitmore . Position :Quarterback [QB]

Arm Strength/Power
Fromm just doesn't have that elite arm strength. Some of his throws fizzle out at the intermediate and deep levels of the field.
Short Accuracy (1-10 yds)
Fromm is most comfortable dumping passes off on check-downs or finding an open guy within 10 yards. His ball placement helps receivers gain significant yards after the catch.
Imtermediate Accuracy (10-20 yds)
Struggles to deliver passes outside the numbers beyond 10 feet due to his limited arm strength.
Long Accuracy (20+ yds)
He needs a lot of work with his deep ball. His lack of arm strength and lack of tight-window accuracy will hinder his accuracy, especially in jump ball situations.
Pocket Presence
Throughout his time at Georgia, Fromm steadily improved his pocket presence. His great chemistry with offensive linemen helps him refrain from bailing the pocket too early. However, he could improve his pre-snap blitz awareness.
has decent mobility when throwing on the run but isn't a threat to gain yards on the ground.
Fromm is one of the best in college at going through his progressions. He doesn't stare down receivers but rarely misses an open receiver.
Fromm throws the ball with no hitch and has great arm delivery. His mechanics will help him be a great pocket passer who can consistently deliver accurate passes. However, he could refine his leg mechanics.
had two injuries in the off-season as a result of fishing and other activities
Coach and teammates call him a natural born leader
Game Management
In 2 minute situations he is a great game manager, rarely loses a game because of a throw. He excels in 3rd down and red zone situations.
Fromm rarely makes a drastic mistake during games because of his poise and intelligence. He's a rather conservative quarterback who won't panic under pressure.
6'2'', 220 lbs.
5.01 40 yard dash.
Play-Making Ability
He isn't going to make many big plays at the NFL level
doesn't put up big stats when it comes to passing yardage but he is efficient
Fromm has a high football IQ, great poise under pressure and stellar chemistry with his teammates.
liked by his team and has no legal issues
Jake Fromm excels as a pocket passer. He has the pocket presence, vision, and decision making necessary to frequently efficient plays. Fromm is great at going through his progressions to find the open man at the intermediate level but favors dumping it off to the short level. While Fromm isn't the best at threading the needle into tight windows, he does a great job placing the ball in a vicinity to maximize yards after the catch.
The biggest issue with Fromm is that most of his issues are nearly impossible to fix since they concern his lack of physical attributes. For example, his limited arm strength prevents him from threading the needle into tight windows or delivering an accurate deep pass. Moreover, his lack of speed and mobility make it nearly impossible for him to move the ball on the ground or extend plays with his legs. The good news is that Fromm usually opts to throw the ball away when on the run instead of trying to outrun defenders. However, this doesn't do much good when he's trapped inside the pocket and unable to toss the ball towards the sidelines. As a result, Fromm isn't much of a threat to create a big-play to boost his team's offense. When he attempts to throw the ball with some velocity, his accuracy usually deteriorates, prompting him to whiff on the pass or throw an interception. Plus, he isn't a gunslinger who can try to singlehandedly win a game with his arm.
Overall Analysis
At the next level, Fromm will be a quality game manager in west-coast offenses, especially on late down and red zone situations. Offensive coordinators can expect Jake to make the best-read, remain calm in the pocket, and efficiently move the chains. While he isn't a speedy dual-threat or a big-armed gunslinger, Fromm has the intangibles necessary to keep his team in close games. He probably won't attract any first-round hype but he would be a steal as a day two pick and could surprise people if he is put in the right system.
