Christensen isn't a very quick defender but he makes up for his lack of pace through his positional awareness and reading of the game.

On 1v1s Christensen's lack of pace can hurt him against a quick forward, but he's very good at slowing them down and containing forwards.
Probably one of his best traits is his passing. He loves playing out from the back and can play accurate passes in between the lines. He also has the ability to play through-balls to the forwards.
Christensen is a pretty strong defender and doesn't get pushed around a lot by big forwards. His balance is pretty great and he can even stand his ground when facing forwards that are bigger than him.
This is definitely something Christensen needs to improve at. He doesn't win that many aerial duels mainly because he's only 6'1 which isn't that tall for a center back.
His vision is incredible and he often begins many possessions by playing out form the back. Due to his great vision and understanding of the game, he can easily play passes in between the lines and has a good eye to play through balls, and accurate long passes to the forwards.
His positioning is definitely his best trait as a defender. He tends to read situations very well and often intercepts many passes from the opposite team.
Christensen is averaging around 0.4 fouls per game and only has 1 yellow card to his name so far this season. He isn't really an aggressive type of defender.
Even for a defender's standards, Christensen's shooting isn't that good. He's only scored 8 goals in his professional career, and since his return to Chelsea, he's yet to find the back of the net.
Christensen does a very good job of marking his opponents. He is often first to many balls played into the opposition forwards.
Christensen usually lasts 90 minutes and doesn't really suffer many injuries.
His main strengths are definitely between his passing ability, his vision, and his positioning and interceptions. Do to his great understanding of the game he is able to play great passes for a defender, and intercept opposition attacks with ease.
Some of his weaknesses are his lack of speed, defending 1v1 against fast forwards, and his aerial play.
Christensen is a promising defender who is only still 22 years old. He plays like an experienced defender because he reads the game so well. Because he's so young he still has much time left to improve on his weaknesses and become an even better defender.
