Los Angeles Unveils its 2024 Olympic Bid

17 Feb, 2016

The Los Angeles 2024 Bid Committee submitted its first preview of its planned bid proposal to Olympic officials – including the unveiling of the bid city logo.

LA 2024 would see the LA Coliseum undergo a major renovation an serve as the host facility for the Opening and Closing Ceremonies in addition to Track & Field events. The 90,000 seat Rose Bowl would serve as the soccer venue while beach volleyball would find a home on the beaches of Santa Monica. The athletes’ village would be on the UCLA campus allowing for post-Games conversion to student housing – similar to what happened in Atlanta where Georgia Tech ultimately took over.

Los Angeles will undoubtedly have a strong bid and its history of success in two previous Olympics will definitely weigh heavily against bids from 2012 runner-up Paris, Rome and Budapest.
