Overall Game Assessment
The game went as expected, USA had the better of possession and created several dangerous chances. Overall, USA was pretty sloppy, giving away many errant passes and almost getting caught in transition a couple of times, only to be bailed out by impressive recovery runs. Though USA certainly did not play their best game, they still outplayed the Dutch in every facet.

Offense Comments
USA had many chances to put the game away, but most efforts came up fruitless, with the Dutch GK making some great saves to keep the game level. However, USA kept knocking on the door and eventually earned a PK then later Rose Lavelle finished the game with a well-deserved goal. Set pieces on the day were weak as service was not their best, but USA still managed to keep the Dutch under pressure throughout the game.

Defense Comments
When the US was settled behind the ball, it made life very difficult for the Netherlands as they struggled to connect passes. However, their best chances came in transition or very direct balls splitting USA's centerbacks. Naeher was up for the challenge, was brave off of her line, and the USA's midfield ultimately helped stop the counterattacks.
