Game Notes
With a college football playoff berth on the line, Coastal Carolina came through. The Chanticleers rushed for 281 yards and reached pay dirt three times on the ground. While their passing attack wasn't explosive, their game management and QB play were efficient enough to keep the chains moving against BYU. Furthermore, their decision to lean on long drives kept the cougars' offense from going off on Saturday.

Game Notes on Offense
The Chanticleers' offense was carried by their rushing production. In total, Coastal Carolina ran for 281 yards and picked up three scores on the ground. While their passing attack wasn't as productive, their QB Grayson McCall was an efficient game manager who made good decisions and picked up eight first downs against BYU's defense. Overall, Coastal Carolina was not flashy, but their stellar execution and long drives helped them solidify the win.

Analysis Notes
Coastal Carolina's quarterback and RBs excelled in their triple-option offensive scheme. C.J. Marable was especially electrifying with 132 rushing yards and two TDs. Additionally, Reese White provided a spark with 53 rushing yards and another TD. Surprisingly, this rushing production came despite poor blocking from the Chanticleers' offensive line. Furthermore, WR Kameron Brown and Isaiah Likely combined for 75 receiving yards and helped move the chains four times.

Game Notes on Defense
Coastal Carolina's defense harassed BYU QB Zach Wilson last Saturday with 19 total pressures. The Chanticleers produced two sacks, forced a fumble, and hauled in an interception against the Cougars. However, they failed to stop the run and let QB Tyler Allgeier and Wilson run rampant throughout the game. However, their discipline and execution solidified the win against BYU.

Notes
Coastal Carolina's defensive line struggled against BYU. While Tarron Jackson generated seven pressures, the rest of the line failed to generate significant pressure against Wilson. Fortunately for Carolina, their linebackers picked up the slack. LOLB Jeffrey Gunter excelled with five pressures, three tackles, and two run-stops. Furthermore, the Chanticleers' secondary held up well against an explosive BYU offense.

Comments on Coaching
Coastal Carolina's game plan and game management kept the Cougars' offense from going off last Saturday. By extending long drives with perfect execution, Grayson McCall moved the chains well and kept possession of the ball for nearly 38 minutes. Even though they overwhelmingly ran the ball throughout this contest, they got McCall on the run to scramble and throw on the run. I disagreed with their decision to punt on fourth and two when they could have put the game away with a first down. However, the Chanticleers coaches did a phenomenal job defeating BYU.
