Rutgers gave a tough effort to defend home court but Michigan St was just too much too handle in the end. They started the game hot which is exactly what they needed to do to be in this game but foul trouble made it hard for them to keep the momentum. Caleb McConnell was able to spell Geo Baker and had his breakout game as a Scarlet Knight. The game could have gotten out of hand if it wasn't for Caleb.

Comments On Offense
Rutgers is now living and dying by the three. Not what the coaches want but the players are settling a lot for them. Need to have more consistent post offensive sets and get some inside-out action.

Comments On Defense
Nick Ward was a load to deal with. His physicality eventually wore down Rutgers. They had some good spurts of defense but were not able to make the necessary stops in the final minutes to get back in the game.
Comments on Coaching
Pikiell nearly emptied the bench in this game getting everyone involved throwing multiple bodies at Nick Ward. Also, got creative with making substitutions after some made buckets and free throws in attempt to slow down Michigan State.
