Definitely not something I thought I would be writing about, but how about them Bulls! As in Buffalo Bulls! Not Bills.... the Bulls!

Yes, that was my reaction too!

But believe it our not the University of Buffalo is riding a great wave in college sports right now!

In football, the Bulls are currently 9-2 and going to the Mid-American Conference (MAC) Championship game, as they clinched with one game to spare. A win at Bowling Green this week and Buffalo will have a double-digit win total for the first time in eons! It is also not a fluke either. The MAC is always a tough conference to play in with five teams likely to get bowl bids this season. They also topped Temple from the AAC and blew out Rutgers from the Big Ten this season. Their only two losses came to now ranked Army - always a tough game to prepare for - and a fluke against Ohio in a mid-week road game. The Bulls have looked good doing it too. They know how to score and their defense has also been strong as well.

What caught my eye even more was that the Bulls men's basketball team which is now enjoying consecutive week's in the Top 25. Maybe former coach Bobby Hurley, Jr. laid more of a foundation in upstate New York than we all thought before he bolted for Arizona State!

The Bulls handed the West Virginia Mountainteers their first loss earlier this month with a thrilling 99-94 win in Morgantown. Couple that with wins against St. Francis (PA) and Southern Illinois, the 3-0 Bulls next face a very winnable series fo games against smaller-conference schools before a pair of December back-to-back games at Syracuse and at Marquette - both of which dropped out of the Top 25 this week. If the Bulls can stay undefeated till then, can you imagine a Top 15 Buffalo team as the favorite on the road against the Orange or Golden Eagles? It could happen!

Regardless of how it ultimately ends up, these are some exciting times at the University of Buffalo right now!
