Week 14 Pick 'Em - Conference Championship Edition

Last Week 3-2
Season 48-17

#5 Utah at #13 Oregon; Justin Herbert will make himself a lot of money if he engineers a decisive win against Utah. Kyle Whittingham deserves to crash the playoff party for the work he has done with the Utes. Utah 31 - Oregon 27

Miami (OH) at Central Michigan; Neither team has made the MAC title game since 2010, when Miami won the title, and both are considered surprises to be here. Central Michigan closed out the season with a long winning streak. Central Michigan 38 - Miami (OH) 37

#7 Baylor at #6 Oklahoma; I can't help but shake the feeeling that Baylor lost their chance to sneak up on and beat a far more talented Oklahoma team. The Sooners probably believe they deserve to be in the payoffs and that a convincing win will get them there. They'll be fired up and focused. Oklahoma 41 - Baylor 30

Louisiana at #21 Appalachian State; Louisiana has had a great year and deserve a ton of credit for this season. Despite a tone deaf decision to attempt to make his players donate money to the salumni fund that pays his salary, Billy Napier has done a fine job coaching them. Appy State is the more experienced and battle tested lot though. They are also playing at home. Appy State 41 - Louisiana 38

Cincinnati at #17 Memphis; Memphis will likely be playng its last game under the leadership of Mike Norville who will be off to an SEC school shortly. Memphis is probably the best group of 5 team and it'll show. Memphis 48 Cincinnati 27

Hawaii at #19 Boise State; Brian Harsin has done a great job keeping the Bronco's train rolling along. Boise State 38 - Hawaii 24

#4 Georgia at #2 LSU; Georgia is a fun team to watch and they play a, currently maligned but very productive, style of  football. They are also lacking healthy skill position payers which means that Jake Fromm might have to take more risks - and turn the ball over some. LSU is the most accomplished team in college football currently and if they beat Georgia, Clemson, and Ohio State consecutively they'll be the most accomplished team of all time. LSU 34 - Georgia 24

#23 Virginia at #3 Clemson; I am only picking this game because I'm picking all of the Conference Championship games in college. Clemson will win by 4 scores. Clemson 41 Virginia 17

#1 Ohio State at # 8 Wisconsin; Ohio State is a very good team, though not as accoplished as LSU, methinks. Still, Wisconsin is not capable of beating teams like the Buckeyes. Ohio State 41 - Wisconsin 20

Baltimore at Buffalo; Buffalo is a better team than many, including myself, has realized until recently. Baltimore is probably playing the best football in the league currently, however, and just beat a better team with a similar footprint to the Bills. Baltimore 30 - Buffalo 20

San Francisco at New Orleans; ThIs should be a good game between the leading Super Bowl contenders from the NFC. San Francisco stayed on the east coast in order to optimize their preparation for this game. The Saints have played exceptionally well this year despite Drew Brees being on the decline, and out for a slew of early games. The 49ers defense was built to win these kinds of games and the 49ers offense has the ability to play keep away from the Saints offense. San Francisco - 31 New Orleans 23
