Dec. 16

R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl

Troy vs. North Texas

Both teams had good seasons, combining for a 19-6 record. The Trojans, in addition to having the better record Troy also has better players and should pull out a win in a game without a ton of defense. Troy 41 - North Texas 38

AutoNation Cure Bowl

Western Kentucky vs. Georgia State

Both teams are fortunate to be in a bowl game with just 6 wins apiece. This game will be a nice reward for the players and fans of these programs and little else. WKU 47 - Georgia State 31

Las Vegas Bowl

No. 25 Boise State vs. Oregon

The Las Vegas Bowl was shaping up to be a very intriguing matchup before Willie Taggart left to take the Florida State job. As of now Mario Cristobal will maintain some continuity but it won’t be enough to lead Oregon to a victory over a more talented Boise State team. Boise State 38 - Oregon 27

GILDAN New Mexico Bowl

Marshall vs. Colorado State

Colorado State’s offense has a clear advantage in this game, although Marshall’s defense is not terrible. Still, offense usually wins in these types of games. CSU 40 - Marshall 30

Raycom Media Camellia Bowl

Middle Tennessee vs. Arkansas State

Arkansas State is the clear favorite in this game.  ASU - 38 MTSU 20

Dec. 19

Cheribundi Tart Cherry Boca Raton Bowl

Akron vs. Florida Atlantic

Terry Bowden has done a remarkable job at Akron by just getting them into a Bowl game. His luck will run against Lane Kiffin and FAU. This will be a fun game to watch though. FAU 48 - Akron 45

Dec. 20

DXL Frisco Bowl

Louisiana Tech vs. SMU

Not having Chad Morris will hurt SMU and while the Mustangs are questionable on the road, this will be like another home game for them. SMU 41 La Tech 38

Dec. 21

Bad Boy Mowers Gasparilla Bowl

Temple vs. Florida International

Again, this will be a nice reward for players and fans of the two schools. It also feels like a participation trophy game. FIU 40 Temple 24

Dec. 22

Bahamas Bowl

UAB vs. Ohio

If you need a pre Christmas game to focus on during weird family time this might be the game for you. UAB has had a great comeback season against all odds. Ohio’s seniors have, quietly, had a very good career, and all involved deserve a trip to the Bahamas. UAB can build off of this success but Ohio is the better team. Ohio 35 - UAB 27

Famous Idaho Potato Bowl

Central Michigan vs. Wyoming

Josh Allen will be playing in this game and he might also be playing for your favorite NFL team next year. I’d watch this game if I were an NFL draft fan, otherwise go caroling or something. CMU 31 Wyoming 28

Dec. 23

Birmingham Bowl

Texas Tech vs. South Florida

This game should be a blow out. Texas Tech will score some points, and amass 400 passing yards, but South Florida will slowly kill them. It’s crazy that a non Power 5 program is in much better shape than a perennial Big 12 bowl participant program. USF 45 - Texas Tech 31

Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl

San Diego State vs. Army

This seems like the year for Army to get 10 wins but San Diego State is already there. This is an amazingly even match up in terms of stats but San Diego State should pull out the victory. SDSU 31 - Army 30

Dollar General Bowl

Appalachian State vs. Toledo

Jason Candle will be a head coach in the Big Ten, ACC, or Big 12 by this time next year. He has one more game with Logan Woodside as quarterback and I would expect him to make it count for any Athletic Directors that might be watching. Toledo 42 - Appy State  31

Dec. 24

Hawai'i Bowl

Fresno State vs. Houston

Two well balanced teams with strong seasons behind them. Houston has played the tougher schedule and should be better prepared. Houston 38 - Fresno State 35.
