Netherlands was a surprise finalist in my opinion. The build up was consistent and strong, but they struggled to convert the build up to scoring opportunities. No one wanted to pull the trigger on a shot it seemed! They relied on set pieces for goals, which was equivalent to living on the edge. Luckily they had great goalkeeping and the defense played well as a "bend, don't break" unit. Possession was a key for the team as controlling possession helped to limit other teams' opportunities.
Did the team meet expectations?
Blew Away My Expectations !
They made the finals! Who saw that coming!
Outlook for Next Competition / Season
This was a coming out party for the Dutch! They have arrived as a women's soccer country. The men are always in the mix for major competitions, so now we have to consider the ladies a legitimate threat along with England, France, Germany, etc. Euros are only 2 years away!

Set Pieces/Corner Kicks
The Dutch relied way too much on set pieces and penalties for scoring. With players like Martens and company, they pass up too many shots.

Transitions / Counter-Attack
Bend, don't break! It was good enough! Goalkeeping was excellent and bailed them out on multiple occasions!

Possession was excellent. The finishing was not. Shoot the ball! Too many opportunities that were passed up.
