Season Outlook Analysis

Offense
Position
Quarterbacks
B
Mitchell Trubisky entering his second season should take a major leap. He has the tools to be top notch. Confident, focused hard worker. Physical tools, mobility, short and intermediate accuracy, throw on the run accuracy, good pocket presence. His play recognition and progression through the play will be key, especially under a new system. New offensive minded HC Nagy will help speed up his development. I expect a second year jump similar to the one Jared Goff made with Sean McVay in 2017.
Running Backs
B
A solid duo of power and speed with Jordan Howard and Tarik "The Human Joystick" Cohen. These two will complement each other well. There have been talks that Howard has improved his pass catching ability. This will help his versatility and prevent obvious run calls when hes in the backfield. Tarik's speed is too lethal to keep off the field so look for him to line up all over the place and create matchups. He has big play ability. I expect Tarik to be a breakout player this season.
Protection & Blocking
B+
Big, strong athletic interior line with their guards and center. They should be able to create interior lanes to ground and pound. Athletic enough to kick out and block down field at the second level. The tackles are a bit more liable. Not as technical as they should be. Look for improvement in pass protection. Better conditioning for occasional uptempo, hurry up offense.
Receiving
A-
Extremely versatile wide receiver and tight end rooms this season. Made it a priority this offseason to surround their young quarterback with the appropriate mix of weapons. Allen Robinson is a proven number 1 when healthy and a big possession receiver. There is a lot more speed than previous seasons. Very excited for 2nd round pick Anthony Miller to make immediate contributions. He is a productive player. Multiple tight ends with different skills sets across the board. Shaheen has high upside.

Skills Analysis Notes
There should be huge improvements with offensive productivity. The Bears brought in many capable big play ability guys. Explosive players. A lot more speed. There is a good mix of versatility to attack different matchups. Have guys that can play multiple positions. Consistency is the only question mark.

Defense
Position
Defensive Line
B
Sound players. Discipline guys that understand their gaps and assignments. Versatile guys that can move around. Stopping the run should be improved.
Linebackers
B+
More speed with inside and outside linebackers. Drafted Roquan Smith to potentially be the next staple of Chicago Bears Defense. Long range in terms of field coverage. Guys that can cover sideline to sideline. Need to create more pressure on the edges and speed up the quarterback. Expect more blitz packages.
Defensive Backs
B-
There is not much significant individual talent but a solid unit that plays well together schematically. A disciplined unit that plays bend but don't break football. Has to find more ways to be disruptive and create turnovers.

Skills Analysis Notes
They need to bring back the physicality that defines the old school brand of Chicago Bears football. A fundamentally sound defense that needs to play faster and create more chaos. With a lot of returning players, the chemistry has improved and will allow them to be a more cohesive, tight unit. I expect them be much improved play making defense.

New kicker that will likely not be accustomed to kicking in the Windy City. Punting is average. There will be several playmakers at the both kickoff and punt returns. The improved speed on the team should help the coverage teams.

Overall Coaching / School Analysis
First time Head Coaching experience with Matt Nagy. A players coach. Will be some ups and downs but love his energy and philosophy. Former OC under Andy Reid that has a lot of new, innovative plays and schemes up his sleeve. Understands new aged football. Brought back Vic Fangio to keep the defense philosophy in tact. 3rd season under Fangio's scheme should help the defense takeoff.

Analysis
I believe new head coach Matt Nagy will accelerate the development of Trubisky. He is a new, young mind that understands both old and new school football. Expect the offense to transform into an explosive and exciting style. Offense is going to take a major jump in productivity. There is a lot of speed and big play threats on offense. With more continuity on the defensive side, they can be a top 5 defense under Vic Fangio. There will bring back the physical, rugged, and tough identity of Chicago Bears Defense. There will be an emphasis on creating turnovers.

Expectations/ Outlook
New head coach Matt Nagy will accelerate the development of Trubisky. Expect the offense to transform into an explosive and exciting style. Last years FGs will turn into TDs this season. Expect the ball to move more fluidly down the field. With more continuity on the defensive side, they can be a top 5 defense under Vic Fangio in his third season. Not a star studded defense but a cohesive unit that can be disruptive. Expect a bend but don't break defense. The physical, rugged, tough defensive identity is making a comeback to the Chicago Bears.
