I believe Sam Darnold has a break out year and shows that he is a top 10 QB in the league. Joe Flacco and David Fales both have solid experience in the league, so there is good depth and experience in the QB room.
Le'Veon Bell has some what of a come back year, and Frank Gore still has a little left in the tank. Along with Lamical Perine who adds youth and explosiveness to the group.
Protection & Blocking
O-line was horrendous last year, but it is much improved with a solid amount of veteran signings and our franchise LT in Mekhi Becton. It is still yet to be seen how this new group plays but it should be better than last year.
They are slightly improved from last year as they have some more depth. They get Chris Herndon their TE back from injury this year. There is no true #1 receiver, but Breshard Perriman and Jamison Crowder are two competent receivers.
Big Play Ability
Red Zone Success
Skills Analysis Notes
They are relatively average when it comes to talent on the offensive side, the two positions where I think they will over achieve will be the QB and the RB. I think Sam Darnold will establish himself as a franchise QB, and Le'Veon Bell returns to his pro bowl form. If those things happen they have enough to be a really solid offensive group, I don't see them being a top tier offense though.
Quinnen Williams has apparently looked amazing through camp and is in great shape, I see him being a difference maker this year on the defense. We stay solid at the other positions on the line with Henry Anderson and Steve McLendon.
Avery Williamson and Jordan Jenkins are the players to note, we have solid depth as well. Would have been better if we had CJ Mosley this year, he was our best LB.
Lost Jamal Adams which was a big hit, but we still have Marcus Maye and we got Bradley Mcdougald in return. Also we have improved depth at the CB position.
Passing Game Defense
Stopping the Run
Controlling Field Position
Stopping The Big Play
Skills Analysis Notes
We lost Jamal Adams, but we got enough in return for him that we shouldn't miss him too much because Bradley Mcdougald is a solid starting safety. The biggest lost for this season is CJ Mosley even though we go really deep at LB, CJ Mosley was by far our best LB. We are always solid at stopping the run, and that should be no different but I also see improvement in pass coverage because we have more depth and talent at CB this year.
Special Teams and Coaching
Overall Unit Analysis
Our place kicker is not solidified we still have Sam Ficken and Brett Maher both aren't incredibly consistent. We drafted a punter in the 7th round, he is supposed to be really impressive and help with field position.
Overall Coaching / School Analysis
Gase and his offensive staff did not have a good year and it has called into question if Gase really knows what he is doing. Greg Williams is a great DC and he should have his defense ready to go this year. I think Gase will improve this year because Sam Darnold has been in this offense for a whole year by now and it should start clicking for him.
Overall Team Grade
This team goes as far as Sam Darnold takes them. The defense will be able to hold their own, we have a lot of talent on the defense and Gregg Williams is one of the best DC's in the league for the past 10 years. If Darnold has a break out year the Jets have a chance to make some noise in the league this year.
Last season, did the team meet your expectations?
Slightly Under-performed Expectations
I am optimistic that they can get 10 wins this year, but they do have one of the hardest schedules in the league. The difference will be the divisional wins that the Jets can get since the division is a little weaker this year compared to the past 20 years.
