Team makes playoffs?
Their biggest competition will be Atlanta and the Phillies. I think they win the Wild Card.
Keys to the season
Staying healthy. The Mets have been notorious for being injury ridden. If they can stay relatively healthy throughout the year, they have a very impressive lineup.
Needs heading into the season
Power. They need to add more bats to help Cespedes carry the team in power.
Overall team analysis
As long as they stay healthy, they should be able to compete for the NL East and make the playoffs. They should be in the hunt come the trade deadline where they should make a splash like they did in 2015 trading for Cespedes.
If Peter Alonso can be as good as he has been in the minors, he may be one of the best young players in baseball.
They did a good job by adding veterans Robinson Cano and Jed Lowrie.
Rosario has been very good on defense, he needs to start hitting better.
If Todd Frazier can play better than he did last year, they will have a big bat that they can rely on all year
Their outfield is very deep, especially when Cespedes comes back from injury. Conforto is going to need to play well all year.
The addition of Wilson Ramos should help improve a position that has stunk for Mets for the past several years.
With guys like T.J. Rivera, Jeff McNeil, Juan Lagares, and Keon Broxton, the Mets could have a lot of options both offensively and defensively off the bench.
Starting Rotation Strength
Starting Rotation Depth
The Mets may have the best rotation in the MLB and one of the best bullpens as well. They should be able to win most games by scoring 5 runs or less with the pitchers they have. They don't have many holes in both their rotation and bullpen. The big names include Noah Syndergaard, Jacob deGrom, and Edwin Diaz.
Overall Line Up Strength
The speed of the Mets has always been a problem.
The Mets may have the best rotation in the MLB highlighted by Noah Syndergaard and Jacob deGrom.
The bullpen should be dominate with the addition of Edwin Diaz, who is one of the best young pitchers. They also resigned Jeurys Familia, who has proven to be a dominant force in the Mets bullpen past years.
