Sugar Bowl Preview

Last year’s NCG is this year’s semi-final. This game will have a ton of NFL talent on display and might also feature the two best teams. The two programs are very familiar with each other, though, that much is certain.

Top 10 Prospects

1: Christian Wilkins, DT, Clemson

2: Clelin Ferrell, DE, Clemson

3: Minkah Fitzpatrick, S, Alabama

4: Austin Bryant, DE, Clemson

5: DeRon Payne, DT, Alabama

6: Calvin Ridley, WR, Alabama

7: Mitch Hyatt, OT, Clemson

8: Deon Cain, WR, Clemson

9: Tommie Harrison, S, Alabama

10: Damien Harris, RB, Alabama

When Clemson Has The Ball: Clemson has had success throwing on Alabama in the last two seasons. Deon Cain will need a big game, which might be tough, but Kelly Bryant has the out of the pocket skills to assist his receivers on broken plays. Minkah Fitzpatrick and Tommie Harrison will both be busy at safety chasing him around. Alabama does get some of their injured linebackers back but how rusty will they be?

When Alabama Has The Ball: Alabama has only faced 1 other defensive front 7 as talented as Clemson’s and that was the game they lost, to Auburn. In that game Alabama was 0-13 on third down conversions until the 4th quarter. They can’t afford to make those same mistakes here. Clemson’s starting line is better than Auburn’s but they don’t have the depth. Alabama’s line play has been shaky this season, they cannot afford to be shaky in this game.

Prediction: Clemson actually has more talent than Alabama and Jalen Hurts might not have the ability to carry this team late in the game. Clemson 31 Alabama 28
